Really considering this for Kali. Is it one meal kibble and one raw? Or raw and kibble in the same meal twice? Do you also give chicken wings? Need to do something to help Kali's teeth and for her general health.

Definately one meal kibble, one meal raw - they digest at different rates, so feeding them together can cause tummy upsets!

Chicken wings can be given as the raw meal - maybe alternating with non-boney things (I often give Lamb heart, as this is easy to get from Tesco) so she doesn't get bunged up...

Over time you can give ribs instead of chicken wings, for more variety....
Oh, and the ever delightful tripe is a popular meal!

Yup, different meals for sure :044: This is a list of what my lot get that someone on the greyhound forum asked for....gives you an idea of the variety they get.

Breakfast

Raw 'green' minced Tripe - yes it stinks to high heaven, but they love it! NEVER try to cook it, you will not want that smell in your house
At least a couple of times a week some chopped offal (liver, kidneys, heart) mixed in with the tripe.

If she needs a bit of weight putting on then I'll added some cheap mince, either lamb or beef and pork, (from tescos as their value range has no soya/salt added)

Supplements (some feel not necessary, but I don't think it hurts!)

Daily

Either salmon body oil or Yummega (Omega 3 and 6 seed oils from golden flax and starflower)

Mixed veg and fruit that has been put into a blender and whizzed to death, then frozen in ice-cubes. I just use up whatever is in the fridge, but no onion/leek/grapes. I do use garlic and also chuck in any herbs that are around. I do a big batch that lasts a month or so, she has about 1 ice cube a day.

Keepers Mix (from Dorwest herbs - kelp etc)
Billy No Mates - a herbal flea/tick repellent

Once or twice a week a couple of teaspoons of Cider Vinegar....good source of minerals and good for worms!

Dinner

any of the below....!
Meaty chunks/off cuts
Chicken wings
Chicken necks
Chicken carcasses
Lamb ribs
Oxtail
Pigs trotters (although haven't tried these for a while as Frida struggled with them)

Whole Fish, mackeral, herring etc

If in season....

Goose necks
venison ribs/necks/scraps
Rabbit - you can chuck down whole ones, skin included, but Frida just turns her nose up at it!!

Once or twice a week either for breakfast or dinner, a big can of pilchards in tomato sauce with an egg or two.

Ok. Almost certain this is what I am going to do. Lyla is all raw fed and she hasn't had one days sickness yet!

Probably tempting fate here, but none of mine have ever been to the vets since I've had them with an illness :046:....although I'm sure there are also plenty of non-barf fed dogs that are the same......I just know that my lot love tucking into their dinner for a good chew, but are never frantic about feeding time :001::001::001:

Does anyone who feeds kibble/raw feed chicken wings after the kibble meal or is it always after the meat meal?

Don't think I could have tripe in the house without puking!

I would say feed the chicken wings as a main meal in their own right......

my lot get whats on the go so if Ive been given tripe ( usually just as its left the sheep ) I just chuck them 1 each and they go at it all day. thank heavens for a dog run. they quite often bury what they dont finish and eat that the next day. same with fresh rabbits OH gives them tho I dont give them too many of them as they often puke that up for a second chewing which is totally disgusting and I boke all over the place. these are skinned gutted etc as OH wants my lot to retreive rabbit not scoff it until he says so and Im a queasy devil I couldnt stand to see them eat rabbit heads etc.
I HATE dead things so they have got to not look like the animal before I can touch them and even then I have to force myself.
they get a fair bit of meaty lamb bones and I buy chicken wings or share a raw chook beetween the lot of us I nick the breasts for the hoomans to cook, and the dogs get the rest shared between them.
I do feed burns active which they get if Ive nothing raw or if Im in a hurry and its quick and easy.

God Jean, I nearly threw up reading that!! I give Lyla 1 chicken wing 3 times a week after her meat meal as my bible says she needs a meaty stomach to cope with the wings. I can give them as a meal (3 in one go if she is having gland trouble I think Karen said) but at the moment it is only for calcium purposes. Gave Kali a chicken wing bashed (just in case), she rewarded me by peeing on my rug....:006::041:
