How much does your dog drink a day?

I am asking because Cassie is on tinned food, not dry (at least not yet) as that is what she has always had. However, she drinks almost nothing. Iv heard her have a couple of laps at the water dish perhaps once a day, and while her food is wet, surely this isn't enough. I have tried changing the water dish to a different bowl, but it didn't change things. I don't have a freezer to make ice cubes (might have to get James to make some up with his).

Any ideas on how to get her to drink more?

I get the feeling that her previous family gave her a lot of human food and treats. I have never seen her react so well to the rustle of a sweetie wrapper (which she obviously didnt get given from me). So maybe they let her drink tea or something and she just shuns water (a bit like I do lol).

The only time mine go near water is after they've had a good run around. They never really drink during the course of the day indoors, but they are on a raw barf type natural diet, which contains plenty of moisture. I expect Cassie will be getting all the moisture she needs from her food at the moment - she'll drink when she's thirsty enough ;)

My Penny (Lab X) barely drinks at all, I rarely see her at the water bowl. She is on a dry food diet. She does have a cuppa some mornings, but not often. :029:

mine is on 1/2 barf 1/2 kibble - he drinks more if he has more kibble.

At the moment he's drinking quite a lot but I think that's because the heating is still on and it's a bit milder....

Sam doesn't really drink alot of water either and he is on kiddle, but it is soaked in water before we give to him, so he must be getting enough water from that.

As Tanya says, she will drink when she is thirsty.
