Right Ladies and Gents I need your help, I am picking up Kooki on tuesday and want your advice on the best way to re-introduce her to Fred when we get her home and any helpful hints on getting her settled into our routine.
I want things to go as smoothly as possible for her so can you think of any problems we might have that I can hopefully avoid.

Lisa (and Fred and Kooki)

my top tip would be to treat them equally. Mali hates to think Elsie is getting a bigger cuddle than her.

I'm sure others will be along to help more than I can. Good luck x

I agree with Gwen, make sure to give Fred as many cuddles....Fargo got quite jealous when Louis arrived - they are fine now, but they had a couple of scraps to start with :043:

I would introduce them in the garden.....let them them get on with the bum sniffing etc out there.......or take them for a walk together first before returning to the house with them both. Fred is used to having 'guests' isn't he, and he's such a lovely natured boy I can't see that you'll have many problems :044:

Most deff treat them as equals, she wont take long to settle in with you!!

No one can really tell you, Cooke will dicatate what she requires!! Do not however get sucked in a ruin her:075: That will do no good!! Remember Lisa she is a dog!! Just be calm and confident but so dont spoil her!!

Im so looking forward to seeing piccies and im so so delighted for you all:075:

go for a walk on neutral territory.. let them race around become reaquainted before going into "freds" territory. have you a bed for her separate from his? she may decide to share his or he hers or whatever.. I just let my lot decide where they are sleeping and when I have doggie guests sleeping over they normally end up in Rolos bed as hes most laid back about sharing.
until they are happy with each other Id not leave doggie high value stuff about . My lot arent bothered by toys.. but fred does like his tennis balls so maybe they should be hidden until herself is settled in. this might be a week or so. and reintroduce balls outside first, not in unsupervised place where a scrap might kick off if fred resents her playing with his tennis balls.
good luck. I bet you things go well,.. fred is a friendly wee soul,
what PG says is very wise.. they are dogs.. not little humans. be firm and consistant. No spoiling!

Very good advice Jean :044: That's certainly one of the things that can trigger a bit of snarlyness from Fargo, if another dog gets near his balls.

Even Fred gets upset over his balls and the jury is still out on his sexuality and lets be honest Lou Lou would confuse any dog whose balls he played with.:064::064:

Thanks for all the advice everyone, going to introduce them on a walk and have already moved some of the 'high' value toys to be slowly introduced, Ihave set up a crate for Kooki but tbh Fred is in and out of it all the time as he loves it in there, should I keep him out or let him do as he wants but put fresh blankets in when Kooki gets home??

I think kooki will lead the way .. if shes happy to share her bed thats fine but she may want to sleep by herself.. who knows?? the dogs will sort it out by themselves most likely xxxx cant wait til you get her. am all excited!:046::046::046:

Just treat her like she has always been there. Don't make to a big a fuss of her.

I took my 3 rescues to the beach to meet the others. After a good hour down there and then home there wasn't any bother, But then I have 5 now. They creep up on you you know lol

congratulations BTW. Glad you got her.

Jean's advise has hit the nail on the head, treat them equally, both of mine either sit or stand in front of me when I issue treats I name them first before I hand them over, mine seem to understand that is manners to take there turn. sometimes I start with Coco first and then Breeze and visa-versa.
