We bought star a lovely crate and beautiful pink snuggly bed, well mark did yesterday ,i need her to be safe,as she is so small,i have no idea about crate training, but common sense tells me this,...i started her orf in there for 5 minutes or so,everytime she falls asleep,i pop her in her bed, when she wakes, the door is open,so she jumps out,and plays a while, last night i was wondering what to do,so we took the crate to bed,and i put her in hers, she whined for about 5 minutes then fell asleep for 4 hours!!!!:049: when she woke i let her out, very quietly and let her do her wee, wee,s she then went back in,but really cried,i thought oh gawd,i,ve put her orf her house now,so i let her sleep with me for a couple of hours, then this morning we came down,i fed her in her crate, she then went to sleep again, she popped out, then i gave her a little bit of cauliflower, she raced to her crate jumped in her bed and stayed there,so it,s looking good:059:i leave some kibble and water in there for her too,i,m just pleased that she finds her own way there, and likes to snuggle up,i know it will take time, but i,m happy at the progress so far:059:xxxx
P.S i think having this crate is going to be invaluable xx

Sounding pretty good so far :044: yup you just want to make it as inviting as possible for her, give her treats etc in there and make it nice and snuggly.
I know you're supposed to ignore them when they cry, as if you let them out when they are crying they get to learn that that works ;) But it's going to be very hard to resist her I'm sure :078: If she cries see if you can wait for a lull in the whining and let her out then ???

Don't let her out when she is crying - wait for that tiny second when she is quiet inbetween cries
I fed mine in their crate and had water in there but NEVER left food for them in there (but then I don't agree with letting them have free range of food, but meal times) - I treated when they went in the crate too (and I still do, when they run in their crates they get a treat )
Awww sounds as tho she is getting used to it already - just be consistant and when you let her out in the night and put her back in don't make a fuss, she will cry but as long as you know sha has been fed watered and toiletted then this is just attention seeking and if you ignore it it will get better real quick x x x (although at the time it feels as tho it is going on forever )

Oh well done it sounds like things are moving in the right direction there. :046:We bought a crate for our pair to retreat to but we couldn't get them to use it...especially Ted - he was having none of it!:045:

The reason i,ve left a bit of kibble in there too,is she is still so tiny and at 8 weeks i don,t want her going hungry,to be fair she doesn,t eat much of it,i,ll be extra strong tonight, and not let her out ...gawd thats gonna be hard xx
I,ve put her on nature diet, she has a bit of live joghurt, and burns mini bites,so she should be fine,:) she had the normal puppy leaving home runs, but her tummy is all nice and normal now :) xx

Aww bless. Even now we still use crates for our 3 "littlest" ones (although they are huge compared to your Star!!!) Buffy and Poppy have their doors closed when we are not around to supervise - purely because although I honestly don't believe Suki or Josie would deliberately hurt either of them, if things get a bit energetic, then Poppy and Buffy could easily get hurt.
They go there when they want peace and quiet and regularly "crate swap" which is quite good fun as you never know who is where. They are also fed in their crates. We gave in and Poppy now sleeps on our bed but that is because she can be yappy and she sets off the rest of the gang. As we live in a mid terraced house I am paranoid about the neighbours ever complaining so that's why she came upstairs. However, at certain times she sleeps in a crate next to the bed rather than actually on the bed - usually down to Trev getting fed up rolling over for a cuddle and kiss and getting a lick from Poppy !!!! That always shocks him!!!
Sounds like she is doing great - keep up the good work and start as you mean to go on!

Keep up the good work Fluffy, mine have a crate when we go camping they know its were they sit when we put up the tent, then they go for a walk straight after, but it is also were they have to sleep during the night so I know they are secure.
Peace of mind Fluffy because she is so tiny she could get stuck anywhere, after a while she will see it as her little den and safe spot.

Well, were you extra strong!!!???
well..er not entirely:076: she was in it the other day and cried so much me and mark got really upset, when i took her out,she curled up so small in my arm,and whimpered for 10 mins,it really really upset me,but, the good bit is,she is a dream in it in the shop, loves going in there, and won,t make a sound,it,s great because i know she is safe in there,:007:so this is what we are doing, crate in the day,no crate at night, she sleeps so well all through, this arrangement is working for us,so we will be sticking to it :006:xx
But then,i think you all knew,i wouldn,t be able to be THAT strong pmsl xx
